Ella Cervetto at the amfAR Gala Cannes 2026 — Schiaparelli

At the 32nd annual amfAR Gala Cannes 2026 at the Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc in Cap d’Antibes, Ella Cervetto stepped onto the red carpet in a custom Schiaparelli gown that revolved around a single commanding design idea: sculptural gold ornamentation at the neckline.

Before the silhouette fully registers, the eye is drawn to the bodice.

The gown is cut in a classic mermaid shape, fitted through the torso and hips before opening into a gentle flare near the hem. The black fabric appears to be a matte crepe, a deliberate choice that allows the metallic elements to dominate the composition. A shinier textile would have competed for attention; the subdued surface creates contrast and gives the embellishment room to breathe.

The defining feature is the neckline.

A deep sculpted V is framed by two oversized three-dimensional gold motifs positioned at the bust. Rather than sitting flat against the fabric, the pieces project outward, creating depth and a sense of architectural structure. Encrusted with crystals, they catch light from multiple angles and immediately become the focal point of the look.

What makes them effective is their relationship to the dress itself. The curved inner edges mirror the plunge of the neckline, almost acting as a metallic frame around it. The result feels theatrical—a hallmark of Schiaparelli—but also controlled. The ornamentation is bold, yet it serves the structure of the gown rather than overwhelming it.

Equally important is where the embellishment ends.

The gold detailing remains concentrated at the top of the dress and then stops completely. From the waist downward, the gown is uninterrupted black. That sharp transition creates a visual separation between decoration and silhouette, allowing the mermaid shape to remain clear and elongated.

This restraint is what keeps the look balanced. The bodice delivers drama and visual impact, while the skirt provides calm and structure. Without that contrast, the gown could have become overly ornate. Instead, the eye moves naturally from the sculptural gold elements down the clean lines of the silhouette.

At the amfAR Gala, Ella Cervetto wore a dress with a strong focal point and the confidence not to compete with it. The sculpted gold detailing defined the look from the first glance and remained its most memorable feature throughout.
